Understanding Your Potential Customers

If retailers don’t know what customers want, or doesn’t pay attention to their requests, clientele most likely going to shop elsewhere. Instead, learn about your consumers and their interests and this an such amazing journey man!

Demographics describe who we are as individuals, for example: ethnicity, age/generation, gender, income, marital status, education, and homeownership. These and other characteristics categorize us without describing our personality. Many demographic characteristics cannot be changed and are directly related to our physical being. A recognized definition is: “The characteristics of human populations and population segments, especially when used to identify consumer markets”.

This is about two things:

  1. Targeting the right people;
  2. Communicating the right message.

It’s almost impossible to sell people things they don’t need or want. If you sell laptops and somehow get me to your site, I won’t buy one. I already have one. What you offer is not relevant to me at that moment.
